1. Nona Mountain
Mount Nona is located in Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi. The appearance of a mountain resembling a woman's genitals can be seen on the way from Makassar to Tana Toraja, precisely on Jalan Poros Enrekang-Toraja, Enrekang, South Sulawesi. Coincidentally, the Datsun Risers Expedition team and I stopped by to see this view of Mount Nona.
2. Loko Mata (Lemo)
Loko Mata (may known As Lemo) is a natural grave located in Toraja. Loko Mata graves are made of carved stone. Loko Mata is at an altitude of 1,400 meters above sea level. Loko Mata is also a unique custom where people who die will be buried in a rock
3. Londa
Londa is a collection of bones, tau-tau and hanging graves located in Sa'dan District. The uniqueness of Londa is the existence of hanging tombs that have statues on the walls of the cave.
4. Bori
Bori Parinding, also known as Rante Kalimburan, is known as a megalithic complex because it is embedded with rows of stone simba or menhirs. Rante Kalimburan was first used by Ne' Ramba' in 1717. Simbuang batu was erected in a procession of burial ceremonies as a symbol for people who had died. The size and the technique of making simbah batu reflect the social status of the owner. Customary provisions state that not everyone has the right to build a simboo, except for the nobility. The making of simbah batu is carried out at the highest level of the death ceremony, namely the rapasan purandanan.
5 .Kete Kesu
Kete Kesu is a tourist village in the Tana Toraja area which is known for its customs and traditional community life which can be found in this area. Inside Kete Kesu there are ancient relics in the form of ancient humans commonly called oky kete kesu who come from Salodong and have twin sisters, nunang tongkonan. On the other hand, there are also stone graves which are estimated to be more than 500 years old. Inside the stone tomb that resembles a canoe or boat, the remains of human skulls and bones are stored. Almost all stone graves are placed hanging on cliffs or caves. In addition, in several places you can also see the magnificent graves of nobles who have died
6. Jesus Buntu Burake
Jesus Buntu Burake is a Roman Catholic statue of Jesus Christ at Makale in Tana Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is the tallest statue of Jesus Christ in the world, at 40 m (130 ft). It stands on the top of Buntu Burake hill about 1.700 metres above sea level. Jesus Buntu Burake also has a glass bridge.
A competition was held in 2013 to work on this statue and is open to the public. After obtaining the winner, in 2014 the foundation of the statue began to be built and construction of the statue was started in 2013, as designed by Supriadi, an artist of Yogyakarta, with the support of Hardo Wardoyo Suwarto, and made on request of the governor of South Sulawesi, Syahrul Yasin Limpo to promote tourism in Tana Toraja. It was developed piece by piece in Yogyakarta. In 2015, the statue was completed. The official inauguration was held on 23 December 2018, by President Joko Widodo as declared on the inauguration inscription on the sidelines of the Tana Toraja Oikumene Christmas celebration
7. Pallawa
Pallawa Traditional Village is one of the tourist destinations in Sesean District. This village has a distance of about 12 km from Rantepao and is located on the North side of Toraja, South Sulawesi province.
This village has 11 tongkonan where each tongkonan has a rice barn located on the roof. The roof is made of bamboo overgrown with a variety of wild plants. This is due to the age of the tongkonan house which has hundreds of years. The structure of the building is quite unique because it is made of iron wood, so it still stands strong today.
Itineraries
Day 1: Makassar - Toraja
- Pick up from your hotel in Makassar and drive to Toraja (approx. 8 hours)
- Lunch at The Arumpala restaurant
- Stop at Nona Mountain for a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains
- Continue the journey to Toraja and check-in at your hotel
- Dinner at the hotel
Day 2: Toraja
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Visit Lemo, a cliff-side cemetery with traditional Torajan tombs
- Visit Londa, a cave burial site with effigies and bones
- Lunch at Panorama restaurant
- Visit Kete Kesu, a traditional Torajan village with unique architecture and cultural heritage
- Return to the hotel for dinner
Day 3: Toraja
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Visit Batutumonga, a scenic mountain area with panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and rice fields
- Visit Bori Parinding, a megalithic site with ancient stone structures
- Lunch at Kalua Restaurant
- Visit Pallawa, a traditional Torajan village with unique architecture and cultural heritage
- Return to the hotel for dinner
Day 4: Toraja - Makassar
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Check out from the hotel and drive back to Makassar
- Lunch at Kupa Beach Restaurant
- Continue the journey to Makassar and drop off at your hotel or the airport
